Home alone again

I have to leave again for a business trip to Florida. I am leaving today and will return Friday evening. I have a friend coming over to check on the kitties. By the way this update is very difficult because Smokey is insistent in getting attention. She is all over my lap purring like a motorboat and I can barely see the keyboard. I wonder if she can sense that something is different is going on? Well I have to go and finish packing and spend some time with the kitties.

I despise winter so I wonder if they will mind if I 'miss' my flight and don't return until May...

Purrrfect

I acquired both Arwen and Smokey in 2004. Arwen in July and Smokey in September. They both are very sweet but have very different personalities and they get along very well they are not littermates but they are only a couple of months different in age so they don't know of any other life other than the one they are living. Arwen is very quiet and laid back while Smokey is more vocal and active.

I never hear Arwen's voice unless she is in the pet carrier which only happens if she is going to the vet. When she was younger she would purr quite often though it was very subtle as the months went by she would purr only occasionally. Smokey on the otherhand sound like a motorboat the second you pick her up.

For the past couple of weeks since the weather began to get colder Arwen has been spending a lot of time on top of me and she purrs a lot. It is very difficult for me to explain what it sounds like because it is not the usual purring sound. It is more like a gurgling sound that comes from deep down in her throat.

Curtain Call

I woke up this morning only to find my kitchen curtains in the sink. Mmm I wonder how they got there? I wonder who did it? I guess I'll never know. The adventures of cat ownership never end.

It must be getting colder.

I guess that winter must be getting closer. I woke up this morning to find Smokey on top of me and Arwen was cuddled up right next to me. They are trying to steal my body heat but I must admit I don't mind. Arwen spent the summer sleeping on my bed but did not try to cuddle against me but Smokey slept elsewhere in the house for the summer.

Stephen Wright

I saw a quote the other day by the comedian Steven Wright the other day it said " If you strapped a piece of buttered bread to the back of a cat, which would land first." I thought that this was very funny but then again I have very dry humor.

Were they bored?

Well I am back from my business trip. The person who checked on the cats while I was gone found the TV on. It definitely was not left on by me so it had to be one of the cats. It will have to be one of life's mysteries as to who did it. I also found the comforter on my bed was "turned" down. I only can assume it was Arwen and Smokies way of welcoming me back home.

Home alone

Well the cats will be home alone for a few days this week as I go to a conference for work. I have somebody coming in to check on them a couple times. All will be well I'm sure and will leave plenty of food an water. Several toys will also be left out for them.

My only fear is that will they throw a wild party like I've seen on that TV commercial?

I wonder what the reaction will be when I get back? After being gone for a week for my vacation in July I noticed that Arwen just followed me around and stared at me demanding to be petted. She had that look of what happened and don't do that to me again! Smokey craved additional attention as well but not to the same extent as Arwen.
