Home alone

As I write this I wonder what Arwen and Smokey are up to. They are home alone for a few days. I have somebody checking in on them at least once while I am gone. They seemed to know that something was different on Sunday as I was packing to leave. Both of the cats followed me around the house they seemed to want to be where I was.
I am going to be on a aggressive travel schedule for the next few months so I have to spend plenty of quality time with them between trips. We will all have to adapt and adjust to this unexpected work travel schedule that came about. I made it a point to give them some quality time before I left this morning. I know that I will miss them.

Thump in the night

I woke to a loud crash last night when I got up to investigate the nose I found one of my bookcases on the floor of the living room. I am again assuming who the culprit is...Smokey because even though she barely fits behind the bookcase she goes behind it to sleep sometimes. If not that then I am assuming that she was involved in some big time climbing. There was some minor damage mainly a couple of beer steins that have now met their maker.

It is needless to say that some of my plans for my vacation day occurred as I spent time putting the room back to order. While I was at it I did a thorough cleaning of the room. Even the cleaning was disrupted because I had to take time to fix the vacuum that decided that today was a good to break a belt! I guess that I have to get back to work to get some rest.

Time sure flies

I have been very busy lately and have not posted much. It has almost been a month since my last post. It seems we go from one holiday to the next. It seems that Thanksgiving was only yesterday and now it is soon going to be Christmas.

Arwen and Smokey are both doing fine. Thier personalities are both so different. Arwen is very laid back and very much a lap cat. Smokey on the other hand is very affectionate but also very active she always act like she is still a kitten.

A few nights ago I did not sleep very well because I kept on getting woken up by Smokey as she ran maniacally around the house the entire night. She would begin at on end of the house and not stop until she made it back into the bedroom. She also managed to get on top of a seven foot high bookcase in my room and would jump to the floor from there with a thump. She would then do a surprise attacked on Arwen who would be sound asleep on my legs then the cycle would begin again. I believe that I was partly to blame because I had a bad cold and did not spend much playing time with them I also spent a greater amount of time in bed.

New outlook

I replaced the window perch that the girls use to look at the great outdoors. The old one simply had seen better days. The new one is much more sturdy than the old one.

Holiday

Well, the cats are going to be home alone for the holiday. I am going to be leaving around 9:00 this morning to go to my sisters. I will spend the night and return during the evening on Thanksgiving. I will have toys left out and of course plenty of food for them. I will spend extra play time with them before I leave.

From the sound of it there will they will have a lot to do. There is snow in the forecast for the holiday and I can envision them string out the window trying to catch that disgusting whit stuff that may fall from the sky.

All's well

Smokey had her first annual checkup on Tuesday this week. She weighs in at 9.2 lbs. and the vet said that she is perfect health. She got her booster shot and the rabies booster.
she still acts very kitten like while Arwen is much more laid back.

The curtains in the kitchen were down again today. I sure that it is Smokey who continually runs from window to window looking at something. I can only imaging that she is trying to get the leaves that are falling from the trees and blowing around in the wind.

Pee head

Smokey has a new name she is now called pee head. Where did this name come from you may ask? It is really simple Last night while I was in the bathroom she jumped up on the toilet while I was peeing and she got pee on her head! She didn't like it at all but did not get sympathy from me because I was there first.
